Before Your Medical

Preparation Checklist:

  • Bring photographic ID (passport or driving licence)

  • Your pilot's licence (if applicable)

  • Any previous medical certificates

  • Complete medical history questionnaire

  • List of current medications

  • Spectacles/contact lenses if worn for flying, and recent prescription details

  • Reports from specialists (if applicable)

  • Payment method

Medical Documentation Required

Please bring your complete medical history, including any GP or specialist reports. You are responsible for obtaining these documents and any fees charged by your healthcare providers.

Complete documentation helps ensure a smooth examination process and avoids certification delays.

Eye Requirements

  • If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your current prescription (must be less than 3 months old)

  • First-time applicants: You need a comprehensive eye examination from an optician

    • Download the CAA eye examination form from the CAA website here.

    • Take the form to any high street optician for completion

    • Bring the completed form to your medical examination

During Your Medical

Your examination may include:

  • Vision test
  • Colour vision assessment
  • Blood pressure measurement

  • Urine test

Examinations take approximately 1.5 hours

After Your Medical

Certificate Issuance

If you meet all required medical standards, you'll receive your medical certificate immediately following your examination. The validity period varies depending on your age and licence class.

If Further Assessment is Needed

Sometimes, additional information or specialist input may be required before we can issue your certificate. This is not unusual and shouldn't cause undue concern. In such cases:
