Jet2 Cabin Crew Medical Attestation: What You Need to Know

If you’ve applied for a cabin crew role with Jet2 — or any other UK airline — you’ll need to pass a medical before you can start training. Here’s what’s involved and how to get it done.

What medical do Jet2 cabin crew need?

All cabin crew working on UK-registered commercial aircraft must hold a valid cabin crew medical report, issued in accordance with UK CAA regulations (MED.C.030). This is commonly referred to as a cabin crew medical attestation.

This is a regulatory requirement, not an airline-specific one. Jet2, easyJet, TUI, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and other UK airlines all require the same medical.

When do you need it?

You’ll need your medical report to show a “fit” result before you begin operational duties — and usually before commencing cabin crew training. Jet2 typically requires you to arrange this yourself after receiving a conditional offer, and the cost is covered by the candidate.

What does the exam include?

The cabin crew medical is an aeromedical assessment covering:

  • General health assessment — blood pressure, BMI, and overall fitness
  • Vision screening — distance and near visual acuity
  • Hearing assessment — ability to hear conversational speech
  • Medical history review — current medications, past conditions, and ongoing health

The exam is carried out by a CAA-approved Aeromedical Examiner (AME). It’s less extensive than a pilot Class 1 or Class 2 medical, but ensures you’re fit for the physical demands of cabin crew duties including emergency procedures.

How long is it valid?

A cabin crew medical report is valid for up to 60 months (5 years). If your assessment is completed within 45 days of a previous report’s expiry date, the new validity period runs from the old expiry date — so there’s no penalty for renewing slightly early.

More frequent assessments may be required if you have a medical condition that needs monitoring.

How much does it cost?

At Yorkshire Aeromedical, a cabin crew medical costs £120 and appointments take around 60 minutes. We’re based at Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds — around 15 minutes from Leeds Bradford Airport.

Which airlines need this medical?

The UK CAA cabin crew medical report is required by all airlines operating UK-registered aircraft. This includes:

  • Jet2
  • easyJet
  • TUI
  • British Airways
  • Virgin Atlantic
  • Eastern Airways

If you’re joining any of these airlines, the same medical applies.
