Detail
Class 1 medicals at Yorkshire Aeromedical are coming in July–August 2026. Initial and renewal Class 1 examinations will not be bookable until then. If you would like to be notified when appointments open, please register your interest below.
The Class 1 certificate is required by all pilots exercising the privileges of a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), including airline, cargo and corporate operations. The examination follows UK CAA Part-MED standards. Initial examinations are more detailed than renewals, and appointments run for up to two hours.
What to bring
- Photographic identification, such as a passport or driving licence
- Any glasses or contact lenses that you use for flying
- A list of current medications and relevant past medical history
- Previous medical certificates, if you hold one
- Recent specialist letters or investigation results, if any are relevant
After the examination
In straightforward cases the certificate is issued at the end of the appointment. If your history means a specialist report or further investigation is needed, we will explain what is required and guide you through the process. You will pay any specialist directly for their reports.
Where further casework is needed, for example reviewing a specialist letter or liaising with the CAA on your behalf, this is charged at £100 per hour in 30-minute blocks. We will always let you know if casework is needed and give you a clear indication of the likely charges before proceeding.
Cancellation
You can cancel or reschedule free of charge with more than 5 days notice. Within 5 days, a 50% fee applies. Within 48 hours, the full fee is charged.
